This template is specifically made for those who are building communities.

I’m a big fan of note taking and accepting the fact that our brains cannot hold all the information we would like it to. I’ve lost too many ideas and so much time to the simple fact of not taking a bit of time to jot down the important bits of community life, all in one place.

We are pulled in many different directions

Often we can end days feeling like we haven’t accomplished much. We’re torn in many different directions. Internal meetings. Community meetings. Discussions. Social. Moderation…just so many things in any one day.

It’s easy to fall into the trap of saying “you’ll take note of that later”. Or perhaps to overly rely on automated data that only tells part of the picture.

Often later never comes, not because we don’t want it to, but because life, priorities and just forgetfulness. And so much goodness gets lost when we don’t take note of the ideas we have, the things we see or the experiences we create.

Instead what we need is a simple system to just get things down and move on. Knowing they exist somewhere safe allows our brains to unload our thoughts and focus on what needs to be done next.

My system lives in Notion and this is the template I use.
